Marine Organisms Marketing

The Marine Organisms Marketing Department is one of the key divisions within the General Authority for Fisheries in the Arabian Sea.
It is responsible for organizing and developing all activities related to the marketing and export of marine organisms and seafood products from the Republic of Yemen to local, regional, and international markets.
The department aims to enhance the economic and commercial value of Yemen’s marine wealth by improving marketing efficiency, ensuring product quality, and building sustainable connections between producers, consumers, and exporters.

Objectives

  • Develop and expand the marketing base to include fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and marine algae.
  • Open new export markets for Yemeni marine products that meet international standards.
  • Improve product presentation, packaging, and preservation through modern technologies to maintain freshness during transport and export.
  • Strengthen partnerships with private sector entities and investors in the field of marine marketing.
  • Collect and analyze commercial and economic data on production, sales, and exports.
  • Enhance the competitiveness of Yemeni marine products in global markets through smart promotion and a unified national brand identity.

Main Functions and Activities

The Marine Organisms Marketing Department undertakes a variety of technical and administrative tasks to ensure smooth, efficient, and quality-driven marketing operations, including:

  • Preparing annual marketing plans aligned with the authority’s strategy for marine development.
  • Supervising and organizing export and import operations, ensuring compliance with international health and safety requirements.
  • Issuing licenses and commercial permits for companies engaged in marine marketing and export activities.
  • Coordinating with marine quality control laboratories to verify product compliance with required health and technical certificates.
  • Monitoring global seafood prices and market trends, and providing exporters with insights to enhance competitiveness.
  • Participating in international exhibitions and trade events to promote Yemeni marine products and expand their global presence.
