Discussing Areas of Cooperation Between the College of Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology – Hadhramaut University and the General Authority for Fisheries and Marine Resources

The Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences and Marine Biology at Hadhramaut University, Dr. Khaled Awad Al-Rubaiki, received in his office today the President of the General Authority for Fisheries in the Arabian Sea (Hadhramaut – Shabwah – Socotra), Mr. Yeslam Bablghoom, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting began with a warm welcome from the Dean, who expressed his appreciation to the representatives of the Authority for their visit to the College to discuss prospects for mutual cooperation between the two institutions.

During the meeting, both parties discussed mechanisms for strengthening and developing the partnership agreement between the College and the Authority, particularly in the areas of fish stock assessment, and addressing key issues related to fish and marine life. The discussion emphasized the importance of directing students’ graduation projects, especially those from the Marine Biology Department, toward serving and supporting the fisheries and marine research sectors.

Mr. Bablghoom affirmed the Authority’s readiness to provide the necessary support for such academic and research initiatives. The two sides also agreed to prepare and organize a joint workshop focused on issues facing the fisheries sector and to work collaboratively on developing a future strategic plan for the sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two parties signed a joint work protocol, outlining the framework for future cooperation.

The meeting was attended, on behalf of the Authority, by Mr. Salah Babreidah, Director General of Planning and Development, and Mr. Mohammed Baamer, Director of the Fish Quality Testing Laboratory.

 

From the College, attendees included Dr. Ali Mohammed Baabed, Vice Dean for Student Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Eidha Bin Ali Al-Haj, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs; Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Baawadh, Head of the Environmental Sciences Department; and Mr. Nabil Shaif Al-Hudaifi, Director of Laboratories.
